iPS - Powerful People - Ballast water treatment solutions
Starting September 8 this year IMO’s ballast water convention will become effective. This means all sea-going vessels over 400GT after their first scheduled drydocking need to be able to clean ballast water before discharging it into the environment to avoid spreading invasive species.
Retrofitting equipment on board of sea-going vessels at first glance looks as a walk in the park: standard units on standard ships, but in reality the work to successfully retrofit equipment is often underestimated even for similar equipment on sister vessels. Also there are other methods of cleaning ballast water: in-port treatment facilities, containerized ballast water treatment units and smart logistic solutions for re-handling water and possibly other smart solutions.
Royal Roos and UniBallast have teamed up to provide solutions for cleaning of ballast water and we are looking to expand our team with project engineers for retrofit projects, piping and systems engineers and project managers. Do you have other innovative and efficient ways of cleaning/handling ballast water to meet existing regulations?
